Hair embroidery is an art of embroidering images on stretched flat cloth with human natural color hair as thread, needles as tools, following the rule of formative art. Carried by hair, this kind of art works contains rich humanistic connotation and aesthetic value, and enjoys the reputation of “an art unmatched in the world”. 

Meng Yongguo, a master of Chinese embroidery art, is the director of Wenzhou Hair Embroidery Institute. Over the years, he has dedicated himself to gouache painting and hair embroidery creation, creating random needling methods such as broken porcelain patterns, geometric patterns and so on. After his success, Meng did not stop the pace of exploration. Besides his creation of colored hair embroidery with hair of different races, he also adopted the “method of filling color to the embroidered layout”, refreshing the expression form of Wenzhou hair embroidery. In addition, he has extended his subject of creation to a more common field, creating works much loved by the masses, integrating hair embroidery works into life and finding the soil of life.
