Two gold, two silver and seven bronze! Our school achieved breakthrough results in the 7th China International College Students’ ‘Internet+’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition

On October 15th, the final of “the CBB Cup” of the 7th China International College Students’ ‘Internet+’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition closed in Nanchang University. Sun Chunlan, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of CPC and vice premier of the State Council, attended the championship competition and award ceremony. Winning the gold medal in this event for the first time, our school made a historic breakthrough of 2 gold, 2 silver and 7 copper!

In this competition, 12 projects of our school took part in the nationwide online evaluation, 4 of which advanced to the on-site finals. The project “Micro-Public: the ‘Wenzhou’ Sample of Digital Public Welfare Platform” (College of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, first instructor Li Jianjun) won the gold award of the public welfare group of the red brigade race; the project “Wentotechnology: Fully degradable masterbatch and technology provider” (College of Chemistry & Materials Engineering, first instructor Yin Dewu) won the gold award of undergraduate creative group of international race; projects “Qingyuan Environmental Protection: An Innovator of Rural Sewage Treatment Model” (College of Life and Environmental Science, first instructor Bei Ke), and “Waxi Technology: A Provider of Nondestructive Testing Equipment for High-end Manufactured Product Quality” (College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, first instructor Chen Xizhang) won the silver award of the creative group of the red brigade race and the silver award of graduate creative group of international race.

The competition was co-sponsored by 12 central ministries and commissions including the Ministry of Education and the People’s Government of Jiangxi Province, and hosted by Nanchang University and Nanchang Municipal People’s government. A total of 4,347 colleges and universities from 121 countries and regions, over 2.28 million projects and more than 9.56 million people signed up for the competition. The top 100 universities in the world, including Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, Yale and Massachusetts, sent high-level teams to the competition, further increasing its international influence.

The historical breakthrough of gold medal won in this competition is another significant milestone in the innovation and entrepreneurship education of our university.

Praised by scholars as one of the four modes of entrepreneurship education in Chinese universities for its entrepreneurial talent training mode with distinctive regional characteristics, Wenzhou University has been successively established as the first batch of national model universities for deepening the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education, the first group of national universities with typical experience in innovation and entrepreneurship, national-level entrepreneurship education talent training mode innovation experimental area, national-level maker space and national-level “undergraduate innovation and entrepreneurship training program” colleges and universities, China-US youth maker exchange center of the Ministry of Education, Zhejiang mass entrepreneurship and innovation initiative demonstration base, Zhejiang demonstration entrepreneurship college and Zhejiang college students’ entrepreneurship practice base, and so on.
